Acrylic on canvas
“A Spirit of Despair/The spirit of heaviness" draws inspiration from Isaiah 61:3, which speaks of both a spirit of despair and a spirit of heaviness. This piece aims to uplift those who are burdened by the challenges of life, finding themselves on the precipice of despair. We have all experienced moments of uncertainty, unsure if we will overcome. However, Isaiah 61 reminds us of the promises ahead. It reassures that whatever we are facing is temporary and only a fraction of the blessings awaiting us. It also calls attention to the importance of self-care and breaking generational customs and curses within our black community, allowing us to seek outside help for our mental well-being. Remember, brighter days are on the horizon, and you are not alone in this journey.
